Misty Cove ‘Signature’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-May-2015
Even ruby-red colour with light garnet hues on the edge. This has a soft, light and accessible nose of aromatic red berry fruit and red florals, revealing a core of dark raspberries at the core. With aeration, some strawberry jam and confectionary notes from whole berry fermentation unfold. Medium-bodied, light, easy and accessible flavours of strawberries and raspberries show with sweetness and juiciness. The mouthfeel is enlivened by lacy acidity and the fruit is underlined by a light, supple tannin line. Plush strawberry jam and raspberry confectionary flavours carry through to a light, lingering, aromatic finish with floral lift. This is an accessible, sweet-fruited Pinot Noir with jam and fruit pastille notes and a supple mouthfeel. Match with antipasto, pasta and risotto over the next 2-3 years. Clones 115, 10/5, 777 and 667 from the ‘Northbank’ and Rapaura vineyards, given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in French oak barriques. 16.5/20 May 2015 RRP $29.99
