Misty Cove ‘Signature’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Apr-2014
Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Rapaura’ vineyard, destemmed, given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 2 and 3 y.o. barrels. Fullish, dark, deep ruby-red colour with slight purple hues. The bouquet is elegant and aromatic with primary raspberry fruit lifted by whole berry confectionary notes along with some plum and jam notes. Medium-full bodied, the palate has soft, full and ripe fruit flavours of raspberries and dark plums along with subtle herbal nuances and some whole berry lifted elements. The mouthfeel is smooth, mellow and supple, with a soft and well-packed core. Rounded tannin textures enhance the fruit sweetness, and the wine has good harmony and balance, the acidity quite discreet and fine. The palate leads to a gentle, rich-fruited finish. This is a plush, fleshy and mellow Pinot Noir with lifted plummy flavours. Serve with pasta, duck and pork over the next 4-5 years. 17.5/20 Apr 2014 RRP $29.99
