Misty Cove ‘Ella Maria’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-May-2015
A single vineyard wine from Rapaura, fully barrel-fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new French oak, undergoing batonnage. Bright, light straw-yellow colour, lighter on edge. This has a soft, full and elegantly pack nose with aromas of greengages and nectarines, along with fresh herb notes, and nuances of minerals and nutty, spicy oak. The aromatics are harmoniously integrated revealing subtle cool-spectrum grassy and nettle-like elements with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, green stonefruit flavours are melded with gentle waves of nutty barrel ferment notes. The palate is smooth-flowing with soft acidity enhancing the soft oak creaminess and rounded mouthfeel. A fine, dry, textured line carries the flavours to a soft, dry finish. This is a harmonious, barrel-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with green stonefruit flavours and a soft, dry mouthfeel. Match with herb-marinated white meat dishes over the next 3+ years. 17.5/20 May 2015 RRP $34.99
