Hand-picked fruit from a small block in Rapaura, full barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 3 y.o. French oak, undergoing batonnage. Bright, full straw-yellow colour. The bouquet is full with aromas of ripe nectarines, greengages and stonefruits harmoniously interwoven with spicy barrel-ferment layers, the nose growing in depth with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, fresh fruit flavours of green stonefruits unfold with richness and succulence. Flavours of nutty, spicy, smoky oak are integrated, and contribute to a concentrated core and line. The mouthfeel is soft, suggesting unctuousness, with discreet acidity in support, and the palate flows with good drive and energy to a fresh, oaky, sustained and fine-textured finish. This is a complex, harmoniously balanced barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc with rich, spicy stonefruit flavours.
