Mission ‘Vineyard Selection’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Aug-2015
Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, lighter on rim. The nose is fresh with firm and intense, well-concentrated aromas of gooseberries, green capsicums, nectarines, cut grass and lantana. Subtle nutty, oaky nuances emerge with a growing grassiness in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is tightly bound with concentrated flavours of cut grass, gooseberries and green stonefruits. The mouthfeel balances fine, dry, grainy phenolic textures with a delicate creaminess, with fresh background acidity providing brightness and energy to the palate line. The wine unfolds subtle nutty, spicy and grassy elements which are carried to a lively, dry-textured finish. This is a concentrated, grassy Sauvignon Blanc with subtle richness and a textural line. Match with herb-marinated seafood, poultry and pork dishes over the next 2+ years. 92% Sauvignon Blanc from the company’s Blind River vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel and aged on lees, blended with 8% barrel-fermented Hawke’s Bay Semillon from 35 y.o. ungrafted vines aged on lees for 3 months, with 13.0% alc. and 1 g/L RS resulting. 17.5-/20 Aug 2015 RRP $17.99
