Mission ‘Vineyard Selection’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Aug-2015
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues on the edge. The nose is tight and concentrated with firm and intense aromas of white stonefruits infused with lees and mineral notes. The reductive detail lends complexing earthiness, with subtle white florals unfolding with aeration. Off-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is well bound with a core of white stonefruits melded harmoniously with mineral notes. The fruit has some richness and sweetness, softening the mouthfeel and lending a roundness to the palate. The minerally lees notes are in proportion and are entwined with floral and nutty elements. Restrained acidity allows the wine to flow softly to a rounded, generous finish with lingering mineral hints. This is a gently rich and luscious, off-dry Pinot Gris with distinctive minerally lees flavours. Serve with most white meat dishes over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the company’s Blind River vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 8 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 16.5+/20 Aug 2015 RRP $17.99
