Mission ‘Vineyard Selection’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2016

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 06-Dec-2017
Ruby-red colour with some depth and lighter purple hues on the edge, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegant and slender with fragrant dark-red berry and raspberry fruit, harmoniously melded with dark-red florals, gentle notes of white pepper, and nuances of spice and dark herbs. Medium-full bodied, the palate is soft and fresh with vibrant flavours of dark-red berries and raspberries, lifted by floral notes, showing white pepper, spices and dark herbs. The fruit forms an elegant core with very fine, flowery tannin structure and integrated acidity. The wine flows along a velvety line and carries to a lingering finish of raspberries, pepper, spices and florals. This is an elegantly soft, but fresh Syrah with dark-red berry and raspberry fruit along with white pepper, florals and spices on a velvety textured palate. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern farer over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the company’s Gimblett Road’ vineyard fermented to 13.0% alc., 90% of the wine aged 13 months in French oak barriques. 17.5+/20 Dec 2017 RRP $20.00
