Mission ‘Vineyard Selection’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2014

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-May-2016
Dark, deep, purple-red colour, youthful in appearance, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is light and elegantly presented with soft red berry fruit aromas alongside spice notes, white pepper, a little earth and dried herbs and cedary oak. Hints of liquorice and plums add detail. Medium-bodied, the flavours of red berry fruits, white pepper, plums, liquorice and spices are straightforward and in the cooler spectrum. The fruit is underlined by soft acidity and light, dry, grainy tannins which carry the wine to a light, brisk and acidic finish with herb and spice elements. This is a light Syrah with cooler spectrum fruit flavours, white pepper and light grainy tannins carried by brisk acidity. Match with antipasto, pasta and pizza over the next 2+ years. Fruit from the Gimblett Gravels, the Triangle and Ohiti Road, fermented to 13.6% alc., the wine spending up to 3 weeks on skins post ferment. 16.0+/20 May 2016 RRP $20.00
