Mission ‘Vineyard Selection’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2010

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Jul-2011
Full, deep, black-ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, this has a soft, gentle and restrained bouquet of ripe, warm, black fruits, earthy spices and dried herb complexities along with soft oak notes. The palate is medium-full, with soft layers of black berried fruits savoury herbs and game meat that unfold in the glass. Soft, low acidity contributes to the mellowness of the wine, and soft tannin textures provide a smooth mouthfeel. Fruit from the Gimblett Gravels, the ‘Triangle' and Ohiti Road fermented to 13.2% alc., the wine aged in 2-4 y.o. French oak barriques. Match with Mediterranean cuisine and roasted red meats over the next 4-5+ years. 17.5+/20 Jul 2011 RRP $22.00
