Mission ‘Vineyard Selection’ Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2010

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Jul-2011
Ohiti Road vineyard fruit fermented to 14.2% alc., the wine aged in seasoned French oak barriques. Very dark, deep, near impenetrable purple-hued ruby-red in colour, this has an elegant and aromatic, lifted bouquet of ripe dark red berry fruits, hints of tobacco and earth and oak shine. Medium full-bodied, there are restrained flavours of dark plums and berry fruits with complexing earthy notes and sweet oak. The palate has soft, supple and fine-grained tannins and moderate acidity enabling approachability. Serve with tomato-based pasta dishes, grilled or roasted lamb and beef or with firm cheeses over the next 4-5 years. 17.5/20 Jul 2011 RRP $22.00
