Hawke’s Bay fruit, two-thirds tank-fermented and one-third hand-picked, WBP, barrel-fermented and aged on lees 14 months in French oak, the wine at 13.0% alc. Full, even straw-yellow colour ith light golden hues. The nose is soft and gently full with ripe citrus fruit and yellow stonefruit aromas, subtly building in breadth and detail, revealing mealy and oaky elements and a harmonious creamy nutty and buttery amalgam. The aromatics retain an underlying freshness and liveliness throughout. Medium-full bodied, gently rich and mouthfilling flavours of ripe citrus and yellow stonefruits are the feature on palate. The fruit unfolds savoury, mealy interest and creamy barrel-ferment elements combined with nuts and hints of butter. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with lacy acidity providing energy and poise, and the wine follows a fine-textured line that leads to a piquant finish with citrus and nutty, oaky notes. This is a lively, but gently rich, mouthfilling, citrussy Chardonnay with creamy textures and nutty, buttery layers.
