Mission Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-Aug-2015
Brilliant, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. The nose is full and moderately deep with pungent passionfruit aromas lifted by youthful fermentation esters, and enriched by bright tropical fruit elements. The aromatics are upfront and grow in depth in the glass. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, soft but fresh and mouthfilling flavours of passionfruit, cut grass and gooseberries feature on the palate. Some esters elements lift the aromatics. This has a soft, dry-textured core, with soft acidity lending good freshness. The flavours recede as the phenolic dryness grows to carry the wine to a thirst-quenching finish. This is a fresh, up-front, passionfruity and grassy Sauvignon Blanc with a light, dry finish. Serve with salads and vegetables, and Pacific Rim fare over the next 18 months to 2 years. Fruit from the company’s ‘Cable Station Road’ vineyard, Awatere, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 5 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 16.5+/20 Aug 2015 RRP $15.99
