Mission Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 22-Oct-2016
Brilliant, light straw-yellow with pale golden hues, a little lighter on the rim. This has a well-concentrated but rounded nose with a core of ripe yellow stonefruits along with subtle nuances of honeysuckle exotic yellow florals, and suggestions of herbs and minerally lees elements. Off-dry to taste, the palate is refreshing with a rounded and deep core of yellow stonefruits, honeysuckle and lifted yellow florals. This has good mouthfeel and presence, and the wine follows a light, dry, textured phenolic line with balanced and integrated acidity. The flavours recede a little as the wine carries to a moderately long, nuanced finish of stonefruits and honeysuckle. This is a well-concentrated, dryish Pinot Gris with a core of stonefruit and honeysuckle flavours and a fine-textured palate. Match with Asian cuisine over the next 3 years. Fruit from the company’s Blind River vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.9% alc. and 7 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 17.0/20 Oct 2016 RRP $16.50
