Mission ‘Jewelstone’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Aug-2015
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The nose is gently full and voluminous with subtly interwoven aromas of white stonefruits, gunflint, minerally lees and waxy barrel-ferment complexities. This is refined in expression and builds in intensity with aeration, growing ethereally. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegant and refined in expression with smooth and seamlessly melded flavours of white stonefruits, mealy, nutty elements, flint and minerals and soft, waxy barrel-ferment notes. Concentrated and finely held, the palate is enlivened by fresh, cutting acidity that lends drive and linearity. The fruit richness carries the wine which flows smoothly, carrying to a long and sustained, nutty finish. This is a refined Chardonnay of complexity and elegance, with white stonefruit and flinty, nutty flavours and a fresh, but seamless mouthfeel. Match with most white meat dishes over the next 5-6+ years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP, partially indigenous yeast, fully barrel-fermented to 13.4% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 30% new French oak with 100% MLF. 4,345 bottles produced. 18.5+/20 Aug 2015 RRP $49.99
