Mission ‘Huchet’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 11-Aug-2015
Bright, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour, paler edged. The bouquet is full, rich and densely packed with aromas of ripe citrus fruit entwined with savoury tropical fruits, along with waves of creamy barrel-ferment notes, nutty and toasty oak, and complexing flinty lees with buttery MLF detail. The nose is complete and very complex. Medium-full bodied, rich, lush and densely concentrated flavours of ripe citrus and tropical fruits are the feature on palate. The wine unfolds seamless layers of creamy, nutty oak with nuances of flinty lees and butterscotch that enrich the flavours. This is plush and rounded in texture, with a deep, concentrated core that has drive and presence, and integrated acidity. The wine flows smoothly, leading to a very long finish with a complex amalgam of nutty and toasty oak. This is a rich, plush, deeply concentrated, complex and complete Chardonnay with creamy and nutty layers of flavour. Match with roast pork over the next 5-6 years. Hand-picked fruit indigenous yeast, fully barrel-fermented to 13.8% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 33% new French oak on lees, then given a further 7 months in seasoned oak, with 100% MLF. 19.5-/20 Aug 2015 RRP $89.00
