Mission Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-May-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues and a suggestion of blush. The nose is fresh and clean with a soft depth and density of white and yellow stonefruit aromas enhanced by a little honeysuckle, rose-petal lift and spice, along with nutty, flinty lees detail. Dr to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is soft and rounded with a good core and plenty of presence. The flavours are somewhat reserved, but fresh with moderately rich yellow stonefruits harmoniously entwined with honeysuckle and nutty, flinty lees elements. The wine follows a fine phenolic threaded line to a light, lingering finish of stonefruits and nuts. This is a rounded, aromatic, dry Pinot Gris with light stonefruit, honeysuckle and nutty flavours. Serve with most white meat courses over the next 2+ years. Fruit from Ohiti Road and Church Road, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.3% alc. and 5 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 16.5/20 May 2016 RRP $16.50
