Mission Hawke’s Bay Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 21-Aug-2015
Bright, even straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues. The nose is tight and concentrated with aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits interwoven with rose-petal florals, savoury Turkish Delight, root ginger and complex minerally, reductive notes. Spice elements merge as the aromatics grow in depth and intensity. Medium in sweetness and medium-full bodied, the palate is well-concentrated with bold, ripe and luscious flavours of tropical fruits, creaming soda and Turkish Delight, along with a thread of minerally reduction. The mouthfeel is rich and has a degree of unctuousness, with soft acidity adding to the rounded body and presence. Some alcoholic power drives the palate, which leads to a soft finish with rose-petal and musk nuances. This is a rich and lush medium-sweet Gewurztraminer with exotic and minerally flavours and good power. Match with Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-4+ years. Hawke’s Bay fruit fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 15 g/L RS. 17.5-/20 Aug 2015 RRP $15.99
