Mission Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-May-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with lemony hues, paler on the rim. The nose is initially soft with gently packed and layered aromas of white stonefruits melded with citrus and peach notes, along with nutty and gunflinty lees and reductive complexities. The aromatic build in tightness, concentration and depth with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fine in proportion and well concentrated with flavours of white stonefruits, citrus fruits, flint and mineral complexities and nutty oak, unfolding toasty elements. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with good acid poise and tension, and the wine flows along a fine-textured line, carrying to a clean, crisp, dry and sustained finish with citrus, flint and nutty notes. This is an elegant, contemporary, fresh Chardonnay with stonefruit, citrus, nutty and flinty flavours. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 3+ years. Predominantly Mendoza and clone 15 from Moteo Pa Road, Haumoana and Ohiti Road, fermented with oak to 13.6% alc., and aged 9 months with light oaking on lees with no MLF. 17.0/20 May 2016 RRP $16.50
