Mission Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 21-Aug-2015
Predominantly Mendoza and clone 15 fruit from Bridge Pa Triangle, Moteo Pa Road and Ohiti Road, fermented to 13.6% alc., the wine aged 9 months on lees with light oak aging and no MLF. Full, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. This has a full and firmly packed nose of yellow stonefruits entwined with struck-match and flinty, reductive complexities. The aromatics are fresh, bright and intense. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is elegant in proportion with an up-front, firm core of yellow stonefruits, citrus fruit and gunflint reduction. The mouthfeel has presence, and fresh, brisk acidity provides a raciness. This is well-balanced, and the wine carries to a light, lingering and toasty nuanced finish. This is a crisp Chardonnay with good body and depth of stonefruit and flinty flavours, long toast oak notes. Match with grilled and barbecued poultry and pork dishes over the next 3+ years. 17.0/20 Aug 2015 RRP $15.99
