Mission Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 09-Aug-2015
Mainly Mendoza and clone 15 fruit from the Bridge Pa Triangle, Moteo Pa Road and Ohiti Road, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine given light oak contact, with 3 months on lees with no MLF. Brilliant, light golden-hued yellow colour, paler on rim. This has a fresh, up-front and uncomplicated nose of ripe citrus fruits and yellow stonefruits. The aromatics are fresh and steely, and grow in volume with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, straightforward, but ripe citrus fruit flavours form a tight and linear core. The fruit is enlivened by fresh acidity and follows a light phenolic, textured line. Quite up-front and fruit-focussed, the palate has some richness and succulence adding to the vinosity and mouthfeel. The flavours recede, leading to a light, crisp and dry finish with some length. This is a fresh, up-front, citrussy Chardonnay to serve as an aperitif and with antipasto over the next 2 years. 16.0+/20 Aug 2015 RRP $15.99
