Mission Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 21-Aug-2015
A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc from inland vineyard sites, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine spending 15 days on skins and oak aged. Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is softly presented with full aromas of ripe blackcurrant fruit with nuances of mint, herbs and leaf, along with redcurrants and cassis. Medium-bodied, the flavours of blackcurrants and leaf are tightly bound and finely concentrated, forming a firm core and line. The fruit is carried by the tannin extraction, and brisk and racy acidity. This has good linearity and energy, and the flavours lead to a long, blackcurranty finish with some herbal elements. This is a tight, brisk and racy Cabernet Sauvignon with lively blackcurrant and leafy flavours and a firm line. Serve with barbecued and grilled, herb-marinated beef and lamb dishes over the next 4+ years. 16.0/20 Aug 2015 RRP $15.99
