Misha’s Vineyard Cantata Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 16-Oct-2020
Deep, transparent ruby-red, lighter on edge. The nose is softly penetrating nuances of dark herbs, melded with plums, black cherries and a light toastiness. Medium-bodied, the palate is fresh with plum and cherry fruit enriched by an amalgam of spices and toasty oak element. The fine-grained tannin extraction is noticeable and provides some grip. Fresh acidity carries the wine with focus, lingers to a moderately long finish with spices and herb detail. This is an accessible Pinot Noir with flavours of plums and cherries, along with spices, herbs and toasty oak details, and a fine tannin grip. Match with grilled lamb and venison over the next 4-6 years. The fruit was fermented with 25% whole-bunch to 14% alc. Aged in 300 litre French oak barrels, 17% new oak. 18-/20 pts (90 pts) Oct 2020 RRP $30
