Millton Clos de Ste Anne The Crucible Syrah 2021, Gisborne

Syrah from New Zealand - Gisborne
Review Date : 13-Jun-2023
Full, deep purple, lighter on the rim. The nose is pronounced and lifted with pure aromas of blackberry, black raspberry and plum melded with jasmine, violet, black pepper, spice and a hint of truffle. Full-bodied, blackberry, black raspberry and plum aromas entwined with violet, jasmine, black tea, unfolding truffle, black pepper, spice and meaty, savoury nuance. The fruit is concentrated and pure, enlivened by fresh acidity, lifted with good energy. A dusty tannin grip reflects black tea and floral fragrances, and lingers to a very long, pure finish. This beautiful Syrah is lifted with an ethereal expression, possesses pure fruit and floral nuances, integrated with sweet spice and savoury details on a silky, effortless palate. Match with venison loin and pheasant over the next 6-8 years. Handpicked, chilled, then destemmed into 1000-litre wooden cuves for fermentation with native yeasts. 15% alc. Biodynamic certified. 19.5+/20 pts (98 pts) Jun 2023 RRP $90
