Chardonnay from New Zealand - Gisborne
Review Date : 13-Jun-2023
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow with some depth. This has a full bouquet, penetrating aromas of apricot and nectarine melded with hay, yellow floral, flinty minerals and spice. Medium-full bodied, ripe apricot and nectarine aromas intertwined with citrus peel, hay, yellow floral, delicate spice, clay and flinty minerals. The fruit is ripe with a suggestion of melon, filling the palate with weight and broadness. Lively balanced acidity carries a fine mineral line with spice to linearity. This Chardonnay is elegant, generous with fruit and weight, flows with good energy, minerals and a fine acid line. Match with banana prawns and pork over the next 6-8 years. From 25-year-old vines, own-rooted, dry farmed, handpicked, whole bunch pressed to barriques, fermented with native yeasts and aged on less for 10 months. 14% alc. Biodynamic certified. 19+/20 pts (96 pts) Jun 2023 RRP $90
