Mills Reef ‘Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Sep-2016
Full, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh, bright and up-front with aromas of dark raspberries with subtle whole berry fermentation confectionary notes, along with red florals, nuances of herbs, unfolding red liquorice notes. Medium-bodied, the palate possesses rounded and gently concentrated core of sweetly rich raspberry fruit melded with notes of herbs, red florals and confectionary. Modest tannin extraction provides a supple and accessible mouthfeel and the wine flows smoothly with integrated, mellow acidity adding to the roundness. Bright and juicy fruit prevails and carries to a long, moderately concentrated finish. This is a gently concentrated, rich and bright, raspberry and floral fruited Pinot Noir with some confectionary notes and a supple mouthfeel. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the Wairau Valley, given a cold soak, fully destemmed and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 18.0% new French oak. 17.0+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $24.95
