Mills Reef ‘Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Dec-2013
Two parcels of Marlborough fruit given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in French oak. Full, dark ruby-red colour. This has a light, tightly bound and concentrated nose with aromas of dark cherries along with subtle notes of dried herbs and minerals. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, the flavours of dark cherries, raspberries liquorice and dried herbs are tightly packed and flow along a firm, fine-grained tannin line. The acidity is balanced and provides good energy to the palate drive, and leads to a compact, textured finish with aniseed nuances. This is a tightly bound dark cherry-fruited Pinot Noir that is restrained and brooding. It should soften, broaden out and develop greater interest, meriting a higher rating over the next 4-5+ years. Match with duck, pork and semi-hard cheeses. 16.5+/20 Dec 2013 RRP $24.95
