Mills Reef ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 24-Jan-2017
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh and taut with tightly bound aromas of white and yellow stonefruits along with exotic rose-petal florals and nuances of minerals. The aromatics are expressed with purity and clarity. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate features fresh, bright and aromatic fruit flavours of yellow stonefruits, exotic florals and spice elements that form a fine-featured, firm and linear core. The mouthfeel has very fine phenolic textures and integrated acidity. The youthful concentration is carried to a long, lingering finish of exotic fruits and florals. This is a youthfully taut and tightly bound dry Pinot Gris with exotic stonefruits and florals and a fine-featured mouthfeel. Match with Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from a Maraekakaho vineyard fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 1 g/L RS, the wine given lees aging. 18.0/20 Jan 2017 RRP $24.95
