Mills Reef ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Feb-2013
Bright, pale golden-hued staw yellow colour with a suggestion of blush. This has a softly firm and concentrated nose of pear drops, lifted esters, stonefruits, and delicate oak spices in a harmonious aromatic amalgam. Dry to taste and medium-light bodied, restrained flavours of stonefruits, lifted esters and florals are intermixed with nutty, spicy oak elements. The palate is well-integrated and balanced with bright acidity enlivening the flavours and adding a degree of lusciousness to the mouthfeel. The palate leads gently to a light finish with attractive nutty, oak detail. This is a light, harmonious and fresh Pinot Gris with pear flavours and subtle oaking. Match with poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the Maraekakaho district fully fermented in seasoned oak to 12.3% alc., the wine aged on lees for 12 weeks. 17.5/20 Feb 2013 RRP $24.95
