Mills Reef ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 21-Mar-2013
Bright, even, light golden-yellow colour. This has afullish nose with good depth of ripe yellow stonefruit and grapefruit aromas along with nutty, slightly resinous oak and a nuance of butter. Medium-full bodied, gentle and up-front flavours of ripe grapefruit and stonefruits are harmoniously interwoven with creamy, nutty barrel-ferment and nutty oak elements. The buttery MLF is subtle is integrated, and the mouthfeel is rounded with soft acidity adding to the smoothness. The flavours flow easily to a dry, lingering finish with citrus and nutty nuances, lifted with an acid lift. This is a soft textured and harmonious Chardonnay that will match most rich seafood and poultry dishes over the next 3-4+ years. Chardonnay fruit predominantly from a Meeanee site, fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in oak, given batonnage, with 30% undergoing MLF. 17.5-/20 Mar 2013 RRP $24.95
