Mills Reef ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Oct-2011
Fruit from the Meeanee district, fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in oak, with 37% MLF and lees stirring. Fullish, deep, light golden-yellow colour, this has a very full, broad and rich nose of ripe citrus fruits and subtle complexing notes of butter and coconut-liker oak, the aromas showing good depth and intensity. Full-bodied, the flavours of ripe grapefruit, butter and nuts build on the palate, and are supported by soft, creamy textures from the barrel-ferment. Modest acidity contributes to the roundness of the wine, allowing waves of flavour to fill the mouth. The wine finishes dry, with firm oak flavours and some power and length. A rich and creamy textured mouthfilling Chardonnay to match with flavoursome poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-5 years. 17.5+/20 Oct 2011 RRP $24.95
