Mills Reef ‘Reserve’ Gisborne Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 26-Aug-2015
Bright, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and soft with harmoniously entwined aromas of creaming soda, rose-petal florals, Turkish Delight and musk, unfolding to reveal a firm core of root ginger notes. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features an elegantly concentrated heart of rose-petal florals, creaming soda, honey and musk, and restrained root ginger elements. The mouthfeel is bright and lively with a refreshing and steely line, along with slippery acidity providing energy and tension for a taut, linear, fine-textured core. The flavours lead to a lingering, luscious finish with florals and ginger flavours. This is an elegantly concentrated, taut, medium-dry Gewurztraminer with slippery flow of rose-petal, creaming soda and ginger flavours. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 4 years. Fruit from a single vineyard on the Patutahi Plateau, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.1% alc. and 15 g/L RS. 17.5+/20 Aug 2015 RRP $24.95
