Mills Reef ‘Reserve’ Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Rosé 2016

Rose from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 11-Oct-2016
Moderately dark and deep cerise-pink colour with purple hues, lighter edged. The nose is fresh and firm with intense, steely aromas of dark red cherry and raspberry fruit, unfolding subtle notes of herbs entwined with nuances of fruit pastille confectionary. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is bright and juicy with well-concentrated flavours of raspberry and cherry fruit lifted by subtle confectionary notes and refreshing mineral hints. The fruit is underlined by thirst-quenching, fine phenolic textures and enlivened by balancing crisp acidity. This has a firm linearity that leads to a concentrated and well-packed, lingering finish of raspberry fruit and light fruit pastille notes. This is a firm and well-concentrated rosé with dry, thirst-quenching textures and fresh acidity. Serve with antipasto and tapas over the next 2 years. The first single vineyard rosé from Mills Reef. 100% Merlot from the Gimblett Gravels, given 24 hours skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 0.25 g/L RS. 17.0/20 Oct 2016 RRP $24.95
