Middle Terrace Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 29-Jan-2017
Light garnet-red colour with some depth, paler edged. The nose is full with bright strawberry fruit lifted by some volatility, unfolding soft dried herb notes and some spicy, cedary oak with notes of toast. Medium-bodied, the fruit flavours of strawberries are light, but up-front and accessible in expression and enlivened by fresh and brisk acidity. Nuances of dried herbs and spices emerge along with volatile notes. The palate flows along a fine-grained line with light extraction, and the wine carries to a lifted finish of strawberries and florals. This is a light, accessible Pinot Noir with flavours of strawberries and dried herbs, spices and oak with volatility, and a light structure. Match with salmon and tuna, and poultry over the next 3 years. Hand-picked fruit, fully destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to12.5% alc., the wine 28-35 days on skins and aged 15 months in 20% new barriques. 15.5-/20 Jan 2017 RRP $28.00
