Michel Torino ‘Don David Reserve’ Cafayate Valley Malbec 2011

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 12-Feb-2014
Hand-picked fruit, fermented to 14.0% alc., 70% of the wine aged 12 months in American and French oak. Very dark, dense, black-red colour, saturated, with youthful purple hues. The nose is restrained, showing ripe black berry and plum aromas with a melange of blackcurrant jam, dark red floral perfumes, spices and dark herbs. Medium-full bodied, this is elegantly proportioned with sweet, fleshy and succulent blackberry fruit flavours, revealing some jamminess and confectionary elements. The fruit is balanced by fine-grained tannins and good acidity, providing a lively mouthfeel and plenty of energy. The flavours are up-front, but recede, carrying through to a sweet, moderately long finish. This is a sweet-fruited Malbec with a fine-textured, lively mouthfeel. Serve with Middle Eastern red meat dishes over the next 4+ years. 17.5-/20 Feb 2014 RRP $17.99
