Michel Gros ‘Grand Maupertui’ Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2006

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 04-May-2014
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with some garnet and brick on edge. The bouquet is very full with layers of rich red and brown fruits in the secondary development spectrum, the nose deep and densely packed with savoury whole bunch, spicy cedary oak and gamey, meaty funkiness. Full-bodied, densely packed flavours of dark red fruits feature on the palate, with integrated savoury and oaky elements. The mouthfeel is a little dry and austere, but this has good concentration and depth. The flavours are limited in dimension, and there is a solidness from the grainy extraction. This is a rich and deeply packed wine with savoury aromas and flavours, a little gamey brettanomyces discernable. The dry structure will see it age another 6-8 years. 17.5+/20 Apr 2014 RRP $239.00
