Melness Waipara Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 10-Mar-2014
Bright lemon-hued straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The nose is intense and deep with aromas of limes and citrus fruits infused with honey and minerals, along with the classical Waipara Valley exotic jasmine floral and tropical fruit nuances. Medium-dry to taste, concentrated flavours of citrus and exotic fruits form a fulsome palate. Layers of honey and a touch of burnished caramel add richness, and the mouthfeel is based on a grainy phenolic line and brisk, racy acidity which carries the flavours. The bold mouthfeel and flavours carry through to a strong, robust finish. This is an exotically aromatic Riesling with boldness and richness with some phenolic textures. An off-dry style fermented to 12.5% alc. Serve with mildly spicy Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $22.00
