Melness Canterbury Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 18-Apr-2016
Moderately deep, dark ruby-red colour with some depth and lighter purple hues on the rim. The nose is soft and gentlewith up-front fruit aromas of dark raspberries with a fine, concentrated core of dark cherries and dark herbs lifted by whole berry fermentation confectionary notes, liquorice and raspberry liqueur. Medium-bodied, plus, bright and juicy fruit flavours of dark raspberries and dark-red cherries are entwined with subtle notes of liquorice and herbs, and lifted by whole berry ferment confectionary elements. The mouthfeel is open and accessible with sweet and juicy fruit enlivened by bright and lively acidity, and the palate underlined by light tannin extraction and grip. The fruit prevails and carries the wine to a plush, accessible finish with fine, dry textures. This is an up-front, juicy and aromatic Pinot Noir with flavours of dark raspberries on a fresh and accessible palate. Match with Asian fare, antipasto, and poultry and pork over the next 4 years. Fruit from the ‘Jowett’s’ vineyard on Burnham School Road, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in new and seasoned French oak. 17.5/20 Apr 2016 Apr 2016 RRP $24.50
