Melness Canterbury Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 10-Mar-2014
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is full with deep with aromas of ripe dark plum and dark red cherry fruit along with an attractive red floral lift, revealing an underlay of dark herbs. Medium-bodied, plush and juicy, sweet, dark red plum fruit flavours and ripe red berry fruit notes with some herbal elements are the feature on the palate. The mouthfeel is open and easy flowing with supple, mild tannin extract and modest structure. The fruit depth carries the wine and leads to a sweet, slightly jammy, soft finish along with a little texture and acid cut. This is a plush and up-front, juicy Pinot Noir with plenty of fruit sweetness. Match with pasta and mushroom risotto over the next 3 years. Fruit from the ‘Jowett’ vineyard, Burnham, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine seeing oak. 17.5-/20 Mar 2014 RRP $25.00
