Zinfandel from USA
Review Date : 06-May-2022
Deep, full, inky purple, lighter on the rim. This has an upfront bouquet of ripe blueberries, cherries interweave with minty herb, cocoa, vanilla and a hint of smoke. Medium-full bodied, aromas of ripe blueberries, stewed cherries accompanied by cocoa powder, vanilla; nutmeg lingered and finished on a menthol note. The fruit is succulent, shows depth and complexity. Soft-grained tannin and balanced acidity framed the wine in fine shape and lent a long finish. This charming Zinfandel shows lush blueberry cherry fruit adorned with cocoa and vanilla on a supple, powdery palate. Match with stout braised beef brisket and black beans over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Lodi AVA, fermented to 14.5% alc, 7-9 days on skins, aged 4-6 months with new and used French and American oak. 18/20 pts (90 pts) May 2022 RRP $29.99
