McManis River Junction California Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from USA
Review Date : 31-Jul-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh and bright with lifted tropical and citrus fruit aromas along with spicy, nutty oak. This has a steely, refreshing presentation with good intensity. Medium-full bodied, the palate is rich and plush with bold and up-front flavours of tropical and lifted citrus fruit flavours entwined with spicy and nutty oak layers. Creamy and buttery MLF notes enrich the fruit. The creamy and rich mouthfeel is balanced by crisp acidity and some underlying alcoholic power provides drive as the wine follows a soft-textured line leading to a flavoursome citrussy and nutty finish. This is a rich, up-front tropical fruited Chardonnay which balances creaminess with crispness along with alcohol drive. Match with roast pork over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘River Junction’ vineyard, fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in new and seasoned French and American oak with two-thirds undergoing MLF. 17.5-/20 Aug 2016 RRP $25.00
