McManis River Junction California Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from USA
Review Date : 18-Nov-2014
Bright, light yellow-gold colour with straw hues on edge. The nose is fresh, elegant and tightly bound with restrained, but ripe citrus fruit aromas along with spicy, nutty oak, cream and vanilla notes. Medium-full bodied, clean, fresh and juicy citrus fruit flavours sit alongside spicy, nutty, vanilla oak notes. The mouthfeel is bright and brisk with fresh acidity and the wine flows with good energy and tension along a fine, phenolic line. The palate has some alcoholic drive, and the wine carries smoothly to a long, lingering finish with citrus and vanilla nuances. This is a fresh, fruit-focussed Chardonnay with citrus and vanilla-like oak flavours. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from River Junction cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in oak with two-thirds undergoing MLF. 17.0+/20 Nov 2014 RRP $23.99
