McManis Pinot Noir 2020, California

Pinot Noir from USA
Review Date : 06-May-2022
Deep, medium ruby-red, even colour throughout. The nose is softly full, attractive with bright aromas of plums, cherries interweave vanilla and subtle toasted spice. Medium-bodied, ripe plums, cherries enriched by vanilla, caramelized oak spiced, and black pepper lingered and lifted the finish. The fruit is lush and generous, broadened by toasty oak elements. Supple tannin added a silky veil to the palate, pausing with sweet spices to a comforting finish. This cheerful Pinot Noir possesses sweet, ripe flavours of cherry and plum, elevated by vanilla and barrel details. Match with lamb koftas and pork ribs over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from estate vineyards in Lodi AVA, fermented on skins for 6-9 days then pressed to stainless steel to finish, 13.5% alc, aged on new and used French & American oak for 6 months. A blend of predominantly Pinot Noir with a small portion of Petit Verdot and Teroldego. 17.5+/20 pts (89 pts) May 2022 RRP $29.99
