McManis Lodi California Zinfandel 2014

Zinfandel from USA
Review Date : 15-Apr-2016
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, a little light edged. This has a soft full and gently voluminous nose of ripe blackberry, blueberry and boysenberry fruit, harmoniously interwoven with fruit-cake, black earth and liquorice notes at the core. The fruit intensity deepens in the glass. Full-bodied, the palate possesses a mouthfilling array of flavours showing ripe blackberry, boysenberry and blueberry fruit, along with spiced plums and liquorice. This is soft and plush, with a supple texture from moderate tannin extraction, and integrated acidity. Some alcoholic power drives the wine and carries the core to a sweet finish of plums, liquorice and boysenberries. This is a full, sweetly rich and ripe Zinfandel with black and blue fruits and a soft, supple mouthfeel, alomg with some alcoholic power. Match with barbecued fare and casseroles over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Lodi, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 4-6 months in new and seasoned French and American oak. 17.5+/20 Apr 2016 RRP $25.00
