McManis ‘Jamie Lynn Vineyard California Barbera 2014

Barbera from USA
Review Date : 15-Apr-2016
Dark, deep, purple-hued black-red colour, lighter on the rim and very youthful in appearance. This has a full and densely packed nose of harmoniously melded aromas of ripe blackberry and plum fruits with layers of liquorice and game, along with savoury dark herb and earthy detail. Some toasty oak elements emerge with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the fruit expression is a little reserved, but unfolds to reveals a deep and concentrated core of ripe black plum and berry fruits with savoury liquorice and game notes. The fruit is supported by supple tannins and a fine line of acidity. The wine carries to a long and sustained finish of sweetly ripe black plum flavours. This is a soft and densely packed Barbera with ripe plum and liquorice flavours along with savoury elements, and a supple mouthfeel with light, underlying acidity. Serve with lamb, beef and game meat over the next 4 years. Fruit from the ‘Jamie Lynn’ vineyard fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 6 months on French and American oak. 17.5/20 Apr 2016 RRP $25.00
