McManis Chardonnay 2020, California

Chardonnay from USA
Review Date : 14-Jan-2022
Bright, yellow with depth, lighter on the rim. The wine is soft and youthful, with a vibrant tropical fruit of pineapple, melon and banana, underlying lemon peel, nutty oak and vanilla. Full-bodied, generous aromas of melon, pineapple and banana entwined lemon zest, toasted nuts and creamy vanilla custard. Expressive on the palate, creamy MLF filled it with weight and roundness, supported by juicy acidity and spice lingering added interest. This is a full-bodied Chardonnay with generous tropical fruit and juicy acidity. Match with roasted pork and grilled chicken over the next 3 years. Estate grown fruit from River Junction AVA, cold fermented in stainless steel to 13.8% alc, aged in new and used French and American oak, approx two thirds MLF, blended with 5% Chenin Blanc. 18/20 pts (90 pts) Jan 2022 RRP $27
