McManis California Petite Sirah 2014

Other Red from USA
Review Date : 15-Apr-2016
Dark, deep, saturated black-hued purple-red colour. The nose is firmly concentrated with fulsome aromas of very ripe blackberry fruit entwined with liquorice, black pepper and spices, revealing nuances of violets and black ink, and Dutch liquorice. Full-bodied, the palate is rich with mouthfilling flavours of ripe black plums, liquorice, black pepper and spices. This has real depth and density, the wine possessing weight and presence. Fine, grainy tannins provide plenty of structure and grip, and soft acidity enhances the fullness. The wine carries with good power and drive to a dry-textured, lingering finish of plus and blackberries. This is a mouthfilling Petite Sirah with very ripe, sweet black fruits and plenty of tannin grip, structure and presence. Match with venison and game meat over the next 4-5 years. Fruit fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged to the equivalence of 6 months, in new and seasoned French and American oak. 18.0/20 Apr 2016 RRP $25.00
