McManis California Petite Sirah 2013

Other Red from USA
Review Date : 18-Nov-2014
Very full, saturated, purple-hued black-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is very full and solid with deeply packed aromas of blackberry fruit melded with spicy, cedary oak. Boysenberry, black pepper and toasty oak layers unfold and add to the volume. Full-bodied, sweetly ripe dark plum, blackberry and liquorice fruit flavours are enriched by waves of cedar, Asian spices and toasty oak elements. The fruit is bold and deep, and is framed by grainy tannin extract and structure that builds through the mid-palate. Discreet acidity allows the textures to feature, carrying the wine to a long, lingering finish with pepper and spice notes. This is a bold and ripe fruited Petite Sirah with plum and toasty flavours and, fulsome, grainy structure. Match with slow-cooked game meat and casseroles over the next 5+ years. Fruit fermented in tank to 13.5% alc., the wine on skins 6-9 days and aged 6 months in new and seasoned French and American oak. 17.5/20 Nov 2014 RRP $23.99
