McGuigan ‘Classic’ South Eastern Australia Shiraz 2011

Syrah from Australia - Other
Review Date : 21-Jun-2012
Fruit from various vineyards in South Eastern Australia fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine given some oak maturation. Ruby-red colour with purple hues, light on rim. This has a soft, light and up-front nose with aromas of dark plums and liquorice along with some earth, pepper and spices. Medium-full bodied, this has penetrating flavours of dark plum fruit with spicy raspberries showing some sweetness and lusciousness. Modest tannins provide some grip and palate definition, and with balanced acidity, matches the slight sweetness on the moderately long finish. This is a moderately rich Shiraz enhanced by a little sweetness, the textures enabling it to match Middle Eastern fare and barbecued red meats over the next 2-3+ years. 15.5-/20 Jun 2012 RRP $15.99
