Maui Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Oct-2016
Full straw-yellow with light green-gold hues to the colour, lighter edged. The nose is bright, fresh and tightly bound with lifted aromas of white florals and savoury white and yellow stonefruits along with mineral nuances. This has good intensity and unfolds suggestions of exotic florals and spices. Dryish to taste and medium bodied, the palate possesses light and harmoniously melded flavours of white and yellow stonefruits and subtle layers of honeysuckle and exotic florals. This has a soft core and smooth-flowing mouthfeel underlined by a very fine phenolic thread, and integrated, soft acidity. The flavours unfold an ethereal richness and carry to a soft finish of exotic florals, honeysuckle and stonefruit. This is a softly presented dryish Pinot Gris with harmonious stonefruit and floral flavours and a subtly rich, smooth flowing palate. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 2+ years. Fruit from the Upper Wairau Valley cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 7.9 g/L RS. 16.5+/20 Oct 2016 RRP $16.99
