Maui Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 25-Aug-2014
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues and a suggestion of blush, pale on rim. The nose is softly full and voluminous with lifted aromas of white stonefruits, pears, honeysuckle and fermentation esters, revealing a tight core of apricot kernels with aeration. Off-dry to taste, fresh and lusciously up-front flavours of florals, honeysuckle and esters are the feature on an unctuous and well-weighted palate. The palate is rounded with fine textures balanced by clean, crisp acidity and driven by underlying alcoholic power. The phenolics carry the wine to a dry, slender finish with hints of bitter stonefruits, spices and florals. This is an up-front, aromatic, off-dry Pinot Gris with a dry finish. Match with seafood, poultry and pork dishes over the next 3+ years. Marlborough fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 6.3 g/L RS. 17.5-/20 Aug 2014 RRP $17.95
